Etopia

ETOPIA is a Belgian political ecology think tank. Founded in 2004 and based in Namur, it brings together environmental activists, researchers, educators and agents of change. We have three missions: forecasting, training and documenting.

We publish numerous analyses and studies, as well as books and a journal. Actively involved in lifelong learning, we organise seminars, conferences and training sessions. We are also home to a documentation and archive centre that documents everything that political ecology and environmental movements have produced for more than 40 years.

The Green European Foundation

The Green European Foundation (GEF) is a European level political foundation funded by the European Parliament. It is linked to, but independent of, other European Green actors such as the European Green Party and the Green Group in the European Parliament.

The Green European Journal

GEJ is Europe’s leading political ecology magazine. We stand for an open, sustainable, just and feminist Europe. In print and online, we publish articles which track political currents and ideas offering fresh perspectives and frontline analysis.

Political Ecology

By taking a systematic view, political ecology marries the principles of justice and solidarity with those of the living world and future generations. With its ambition to permanently deepen democracy, it allows us to imagine a viable world by taking into account all living things, and building resilience to the coming upheaval in the fairest way possible.

But political ecology is also an evolving theory that moves with the times. Although still informed by the work of pioneers such as Gorz, Carson, Bookchin, Jonas, d’Eaubonne, Morin, Illich, Castoriadis and Serres, we believe it should be constantly updated. Given the colossal challenges that we face this century, we want to do so through a process that is completely open.
